Elias Bizuru, Professor
Dr Elias Bizuru is a Professor of Life Sciences at University of Rwanda (UR) where he is working since April 2008. Beside his teaching load, he occupied the positions of coordinator of the Msc program in Biodiversity and Conservation before his appointment as Head of Biology Department.
Beth Kaplin, Professor
Beth Kaplin is Director of the Center of Excellence in Biodiversity & Natural Resource Management at the University of Rwanda since 2016, a knowledge management research center aimed at contributing science to policy in support of SDGs.She has raised funds with Center colleagues to develop a freshwater biodiversity information system for Rwanda and to upgrade and digitize the National Herbarium of Rwanda.
Deborah Cyuzuzo Byukusenge, Project Manager
Byukusenge Cyuzuzo Deborah is a computer science graduate from University of Rwanda. She is currently running the CoEB Office at Kigali and manages some projects.
Mapendo Mindje, Research Associate
Research associate at the Center of Excellence in Biodiversity and Natural resources management where he is the team leader for the Biodiversity data management team with tasks to mobilize, manage and publish biodiversity information to avail this to the country.
Celestin Mbonabucya, Software Engineer
Assistant Lecturer in School of ICT, University of Rwanda. A software engineer, analyst and experienced consultant with more than 10 years’ experience in the IT industry. He is a researcher and Innovation Coordinator in the School of ICT at University of Rwanda
Pelin Mutanguha, Software Engineer
Assistant Lecturer in School of ICT, University of Rwanda and PhD student at African Center of Excellence in IoT. A System Analyst and Software engineer with more than 5 years’ experience in the IT industry. Passionate about emerging technologies, Data Science and Internet of Things.
Thacien Hagenimana, Biodiversity Data Manager
Honorary Research Fellow at the Center of Excellence in Biodiversity and Natural Resource Management (CoEB. He is a graduate from Zoology and Conservation in the College of Science and Technology (CST). Thacien is highly interested in Biodiversity Data life cycle and entomology.
Daniel Igirimbabazi, Biodiversity Data Manager
Recent graduate from the University of Rwanda with a bachelor’s degree in Biology, option of Botany and Conservation, currently working as an Honorary Research Fellow at the Center of Excellence in Biodiversity and Natural Resource Management (CoEB). He is interested in Data Management, as well as the land use/cover changes around protected areas.
Maurice Mugabowindekwe, GIS Assistant
Maurice Mugabowindekwe (MSc) is Assistant Researcher at University of Rwanda, College of Science and Technology, Centre for Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Remote Sensing. He holds an MSc degree in Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation for Natural Resource Management obtained from the University of Twente in the Netherlands, and a BSc in Geography (Major – Environmental Management) obtained from the University of Rwanda (formerly, National University of Rwanda). .
